About this program

Known as the White Shark Capital of the World, Gansbaai, South Africa is a very popular destination for tourists hoping to witness Great White Sharks in the wild.

Here’s your chance to take part in a Great White Shark volunteer program and see for yourself! This thrilling volunteer program works alongside marine biologists as they study Great White Sharks and other South African marine wildlife, as well as other marine experts as they conduct responsible tourism aboard their shark cage-diving and whale-watching vessels. You may choose a duration of 1-12 weeks at this exciting program, pricing is outlined in the itinerary below.

You’ll have the chance to assist in the study of shark biology, behavior and marine conservation, whilst lending a hand to the other crew and assisting with the safety and general well-being of travelers on the shark diving boat. By participating as a volunteer, you will take part in crucial conservation efforts as well as related community projects, including beach clean-ups. You will also have the chance to go on shark cage dives, and if volunteering for more than 4 weeks, you may go on the research boat.

This is the experience of a lifetime for nature-lovers, people interested in responsible ecotourism, or anyone who ever dreamed, or is dreaming of becoming a marine biologist!

Itinerary

Working alongside world leaders in responsible marine ecotourism, research, and conservation. Help with daily tourism operations, educate ecotourists, and assist marine biologists with their data collection on Great White and Bronze Whaler Sharks, whales, dolphins, and other marine species.
