About this program

Travel to beautiful southern Thailand and join an internship that will change your life!

This region of Thailand is known for its stunning white sand beaches, lush green jungle, roaring waterfalls, and other ancient sites. The internship is a great way to kick-start your career in teaching English, but also makes a big difference to the adults in the community you’ll be placed.

During your first 12 weeks, you’ll take a TEFL 170-hour program, finishing with a TEFL Certification. After completing the course, you’ll begin a work placement and put your new skills into practice!

After successfully completing your internship, you may have the chance to work for GVI or their partner organizations in Thailand or other countries around the world. This internship is organized to help develop your skills as a leader and a role model, designed to place you ahead of the rest!

Enjoy immersion in a local Thai community, getting to know the culture, people and developing yourself and your upcoming career!

Itinerary

What to Expect:

Your First 12 Weeks

Before you become TEFL certified, you will start training alongside a professional instructor. You will focus on teaching, lesson planning techniques, practicing your new skills as you teach English to the students in the evenings in a small classroom.

The course is 170-hours and runs for the first four weeks of the teacher training. By the end of the course, you should be able to use your new skills to teach in a variety of environments.

Work Placement

Once certified, you'll enjoy a two-week break and will have a chance to get involved in other GVI projects, including teaching in local schools, environmental education projects, and more before you teach for an additional 4-week term in the local community. You'll then start your work placement within the community where you will lead English classes, building on your skills. You may also have the chance to help develop community classes, lead extra lessons within the community, and assist new volunteers with their training.
