About this program

Travel to South Africa and take part in an exciting opportunity to work with underprivileged kids on Saturdays and School Holidays using activities and kitesurfing! This project has a focus to help kids stay off the streets by teaching them important life skills with the use of sports, adventure, and education.

The program runs dependant on weather, and allows you, the volunteer, to get involved in other programs during the week at no extra charge! Because of this flexibility, you’re able to work the hours you wish! You’ll need to understand basic fitness and be a strong swimmer!

Prior to starting the program, you will also have some time to get to know Cape Town, the other volunteers and more of what is to come. We highly recommend you participate in other programs that are available to you, as you’ll get to know all of the different ways that SAVE Foundation is making a difference to lives of children around South Africa. In turn, you get to be part of the change, which is extremely rewarding.

During the week, or on days off, you’ll have the chance to choose from these activities (and more!):

  • Surfing Lessons
  • Kitesurfing Lessons
  • Windsurfing Lessons
  • Cape Point Tour
  • Wine Route Tour
  • Township & Robben Island
  • Quad Biking
  • Cliff Jumping
  • Abseil Table Mountain

If you’re looking for a program with a healthy dose of adventure and learning opportunities, this is a fantastic option!

Itinerary

This wonderful program does not have a set itinerary. Specific activities will be determined by weather and the needs of the kids and of the program. The program runs on Saturdays and School Holidays as an effort to remove underprivileged children from the streets when they are not in school.

The goal of the program is to teach the kids valuable life skills and lessons with the use of exciting sports, activities, and classes.  This program operates in addition to the Adventure Surf Club and focuses primarily on kitesurfing.

This program provides opportunities for the kids to participate and assist in SAKA (South African Kitesurfing Association) events, and has a goal that one of the youth will be able to enter the Youth Olympics for Kitesurfing by 2020.
