About this program

Travel to South Africa and participate in a volunteer program at a Bush School & Wildlife Orphanage. The school was opened in 2006 with the goal of teaching local kids about the environment, and volunteers are an integral part of this effort.

As you participate in various programs, you’ll help inspire the children to care for the animals, the environment, and in turn help them gain skills for future employment. New students join the camp each Monday for the week to develop their knowledge of the various wildlife and surrounding environment. Through lessons, activities, interactions with the wildlife at the orphanage, the kids learn about the importance of plants and animals to the region’s eco-systems.

The volunteer program gives participants the chance to teach local kids, explore the South African bush and take care of orphaned, injured and abandoned wildlife.

On weekends you’ll have plenty of free time. Use this time to explore the area, do some shopping, visit Hoedspruit, go to a restaurant, or just relax at the camp. If you’re interested in taking an excursion, the staff are readily available to help you!

This program is a fantastic opportunity to explore a local community, gain new skills, learn about conservation, meet other travelers and bring a myriad of new memories home!
