About this program

This program is a unique take on a volunteer program in rural villages just outside of Cusco. As a volunteer at this program, you will undertake a full immersion by living with a Quechua speaking family. The family will be unable to speak any English, but may understand limited Spanish.

The aim of the project is to educate and immerse volunteers into every-day life with the family, assisting in the day-to-day duties. You are encouraged to take initiative, and assist with activities including:

  • Construction
  • Agriculture (planting, harvesting, storing, transporting)
  • Livestock (herding, pasturing, feeding, cleaning pens, collecting food)

You may also have the opportunity to learn other skills such as traditional weaving, working with natural dyes, and helping create products to sell at the market.

Please note that you must be very prepared for accommodations without central heating and cool nights, running unheated water, limited electricity, and no internet.
