Volunteers are assigned to a placement at a center located on the edge of Albania’s capital, Tirana. Here, the volunteer’s duties are essentially educational, including imparting socializing skills. Volunteers assist the kindergarten teacher by developing creative games and entertaining activities for the children, teaching them drawing and handicrafts, accompanying the children on excursions and participating in relevant cultural activities. One aspect of which the organization requires considerable help is administrative tasks. Updating websites, translating documents, proof-reading funding applications are all greatly appreciated.
The Albanian Romani community, as one of the minority ethnic groups in Albania, has difficulty integrating effectively into Albania’s wider society. As most of Albania’s Romani children are illiterate, belong to large families living in poverty and live far from their nearest school, when they reach elementary school, their literacy and linguistic difficulties hold them back. Services are difficult to access, as often the children appear in no official registers. By volunteering in Albania and helping directly assisting these children, you are making a real difference!
Love Volunteers offers not-for-profit program fees and is one of the most affordable ways to help out in a developing country while being immersed in the local culture. Fees for volunteer programs in Albania include accommodation, breakfast, and lunch, an airport pick-up and drop-off (if required), orientation and 24/7 in-country support.
