What to Expect?

What do volunteers do? Volunteers work four to five hours a day in public schools or NGOs teaching children ranging from toddlers to young adults. Volunteers are supported by local teachers but, especially if they are staying a month or more, can expect to have the opportunity to lead classes alone.

The children generally have a basic to intermediate level, and volunteers work with them on all facets of language training, including grammar, pronunciation and writing. Additionally, depending on the need of the local teachers, volunteers may be able to lead classes on other topics, for example culture, geography and math. Requirements to participate: -Native speaker in the language being taught. -The creativity and initiative to lead classes with limited resources. -Teaching experience and/or certifications are not required.
