Archaeology of the Mongolian Steppe
Help discover and document the vital cultural resources within the stunning Ikh Nart Nature Reserve. On this unique and interdisciplinary team, you’ll have the once-in-a lifetime opportunity to assist Earthwatch scientists researching the cultural and archaeological aspects of managing a national nature reserve. You’ll identify and document (but not excavate) significant archaeological and cultural sites within the Ikh Nart reserve’s boundaries so that wildlife management plans can take these cultural resources into account - and vice versa.
Get precious water to farmers in India
In the villages around Bhinder on the outskirts of Udaipur, you can assist our in-country partner, Sahyog Sansthan, in working with subsistence farmers to build water retention structures such as small sub-surface dams, water barriers and well/land partitions. Those structures help hold monsoon waters in riverbeds long enough that it seeps into the ground, recharging wells and boosting aquifers. By providing a water source, you will help these farmers provide for their families and generate an income.
Build a needed home or women's centre in the Philippines
Join locals and other volunteers working with our in-country partner, Rise Above Foundation, in building a home for a family in need or a women's centre that will provide training for some of the poorest women in Cebu, Philippines. The people who will benefit will find their lives drastically improved by the work you help with. In addition to volunteering, we recommend exploring old Manila and see what remains of the massive wall that protected the Intramuros (Walled City).
