Volunteers will pass on any special skills to the women, teaching them a wide variety of topics to help enrich their lives and empower them for when they would finally leave the center. They will also offer recreational activities in order to break up their repetitive and mundane daily routines. Throughout their duration at the center, the volunteer will act as a mentor and through their actions and activities encourage the women to be strong and independent. Volunteers may also have to act as an emotional confidant, offering advice to women on their given situations. The role of the volunteer will have a long lasting impact on the women. Previous livelihood programs and skills taught in the past by volunteers still continue to be practised today. Volunteers may also assist livelihood projects such as baking and craft making and may also bring their own energy to help think up new programs.
