Mayan Families Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are able to provide the following services: - Onil Stove installations, which upgrades the sanitation of homes, saves the families on expenses of firewood and are fuel efficient. - Food distribution helping provide nutritional support to elderly - IT: let us know about your computer skills - Photography: tour our programs and document the services happening and the needs of our community - Wood working: we provide wood furnishings to families in need (such as: beds, shelves, tables) - Medical clinics: doctors, pharmacists, and dentists are very resourceful for providing services in our community If you have any other specific skill or interest then let us know how you'd like to help at Mayan Families. You are able to immerse into the Mayan culture and spend quality time with indigenous people. If interested, you'd be able to arrange your schedule to study Spanish in addition to volunteering with our various programs. The experience of spending time with our services is very rewarding and life-changing, because you get to learn about the social needs and gain insight into third-world poverty.

What to Expect?

The cost of living in Panajachel, Guatemala is relatively low. Depending on what accommodations you'd like, housing can be found between $125-600 per month (varies depending on private, shared, hot water, furnished vs unfurnished). Food costs are also very low.
